The African Women in Cinema Blog is celebrating its first year a bit early, as it was created in March 2009 to commemorate International Women’s Day.
The purpose for launching the African Women in Cinema Blog was to provide a space for a discussion of diverse topics relating to African women in cinema, serving as well as a public forum of the Center for the Study and Research of African Women in Cinema. The intention is to continue this structure as well as feature individual women thus focusing on their experiences and work. In addition, in order for readers to become familiar with film classics and important films by and about African women, there will be a spotlight on the analysis of select films.
