Bernie Peng had an idea for a different type of proposal - he reprogrammed his girlfriend's favorite puzzle game. Tammy Li, like so many others, is addicted to Bejeweled. He spent about a month reprogramming her NintendoDS game to issue a marriage proposal when she hit a certain score. At that number the game popped up with a wedding ring and The Big Question.
When news of the proposal hit The Tubes, PopCap Games (maker of Bejeweled) offered 200 copies of the game to give out as wedding favors, and $1000 toward jewel-themed decorations. They also offered the couple a Seattle honeymoon to visit PopCap Headquarters.
Says Bernie "I thought it was pretty cool, in a nerdy way"
The couple was married Labor Day 2008 - look for that tomorrow.
