Giselle in Brides Magazine.

At the shop we call Brides "the mothership" because it is the biggest, bride-iest, most venerable wedding publication on newsstands. So I was awed and proud to see Giselle in the March issue. Paired with a big splashy peony, which tells me that Brides gets Giselle. All hail Brides!

The English Dept. voted one of Lucky Magazine's "Best Bridal Shops"

We're thrilled to have made this list!  That fetching pink frock is our "Love and Tenderness" dress from Ivy & Aster, in Cherry Blossom. Here's what Lucky has to say about us:

Great Gatsby, by way of Brooklyn.

Many gifted folks collaborated on the shoot--see all the photos here.

Feature on Utterly Engaged.

Online bridal magazine Utterly Engaged did a nice little profile of me in their latest issue. See the whole article here.

Strawberry blonde.

Corbin Gurkin's summer editorial, featuring my Beatrix dress, has debuted on Style Me Pretty. Lots of garden-gorgeous wedding style ideas here, and such a lovely model!
How envious am I of her hair? Pretty envious.

Sweetheart.

one more...

...from the "Happily Ever Austen" shoot, now featured on Style Me Pretty...model is wearing my dotted tulle gown with empire lace bodice and my silk shantung embellished ruffle bolero.

Happily ever Austen.

Hot off the presses: these sweet photos from "Happily Ever Austen," a recent editorial for Nonpareil Magazine. When Anne contacted me to ask if I might have some Pride and Prejudice-inspired designs that could work for the shoot, I said yes, yes, a thousand times yes.
Her concept and styling are right up my street, and I couldn't be happier with Lisa's incredible photographs. View the rest of the very pretty story here.

Wedding editorial for Project Wedding.

The always-inspiring Chelsea asked me to collaborate with her on a bridal photo shoot with romantic, ballet-themed accents.

Lately I've been really intrigued by the two piece wedding dresses I've been seeing, so I designed a dress with two removable skirts. One is full length in tutu-pink tulle--it turns the whole ensemble into a ballgown...

...the other is a melon green silk organza mini with a wide waistband and transparent hem. You can just barely make out the hem of the ivory satin mini-dress underneath!

Silk flowers are from my collection -- the large floral headband in the first photo is from Twigs & Honey.

This was so fun to do, and our model Hannah was a peach to work with.

See the whole story over at Project Wedding.

My Honeychurch dress was recently photographed for Southern Weddings.

The weddingest town in America.

It's true--we do love our weddings here. Bike-friendly weddings, DIY weddings, chandelier-in-a-barn blowouts, photobooth fandangos, the works. So I was greatly honored to be named one of the top 10 reasons to get married in Portland, Oregon. A handmade dress! Don't you think?

You've come a long way, bolero!

My ruffle bolero was recently featured in a navy-and-pink editorial in Martha Stewart Weddings. Isn't she cute? The model, I mean, although yes, little ruffle bolero, you are adorable. Shown with Simple Silhouettes Tulip dress.

The English Dept. on TV!

Myra over at Twigs & Honey just let me know that "our" television commercial is now making the rounds. We were honored to be chosen for one of a cluster of TV spots featuring unique downtown Portland businesses. We're featured in the "Shopping" segment. All of the ads are so, so witty and stylish. Cheers to Food Chain Films and the Downtown Marketing Initiative for showing our familiar little city in such a fresh, fond light. Go here to view our ad and here to watch them all.

Tattered organza shrug on the cover of the new Oregon Bride Magazine...

Saturday, 1 August 2009

The chills.

That's what I got when I saw this spread in the new Fall/Winter issue of Oregon Bride magazine. These stunning photos were styled by the talented Elianna Bar-El.
From The English Dept.: Thread Liddy dress in ivory duchess satin, and my wool tweed Karenina coat.
Tattered organza shrug by me and blue rose bonnet by Twigs & Honey. The dress is by Kate Towers.
Handknit beaded shrug by our own Clara! All in all a lovely editorial--I am oddly yearning for snow now that the dog days of August have arrived...

I was totally thrilled to be included among favorite etsy designers in Martha Stewart Weddings "DIY Weddings." Read the whole piece here.

Summer of Love.

I'm already feeling warm and fuzzy from the inauguration, so it's a perfect day to post these dreamy, sunstruck shots from the new issue of Oregon Bride magazine. Above: Glastonbury dress--silk georgette with handmade flower corsage.
The rainbow frock in the background is my "rich hippie" wedding dress from Spring 2008. Painted silk crinkle chiffon.
Oh, summer. I remember you.
